A powerful way to combat stress is to develop strategies to help you adopt a positive attitude.
For sure there will be days when you’re just not feeling it, however, choosing to hold a positive view of your business, your life and your experiences is an attitude that can be developed. And just like muscles, the more you work them, the stronger they get.
Here are some of my favourite strategies for a positive life. Which have you tried?
Kick out those Limiting beliefs
Do you ever catch yourself thinking, “I can’t do that because…….”
If so, you are allowing ‘limiting beliefs’ to cloud your vision of what you want to achieve. Limiting beliefs can often stem from our past, things we were told as child for example by our parents or teachers stay with us and in turn become what we believe for ourselves. Release those beliefs and change your thinking, that way you can achieve your goals. It is important to remember to never impose your limiting beliefs on others either, don’t squash their dreams.
Believe you can and you WILL
As a child we believed everything was possible. We believed in fairy tales and that dreams really could come true. Get back in touch with your inner child and find a way to once again hold this belief. You see, the important factor in making your visions a reality is your belief. If you truly believe you can, you WILL.
The feeling of health produces health; the feeling of wealth produces wealth
In many circles today The Law of Attraction is so often talked about. I for one am a great believer in its existence and its power. Through vision boards and positive thinking you can bring your visions to life. It is important that you learn how to feel what you desire. For example, how would your life change if your desire became your reality? In life we always get what we concentrate on as the energy goes where our focus goes. This means if you focus on lack you get more lack. In comparison focus on abundance and you’ll attract more abundance.
Always focus on the solution and not the problem
At times when we face problems in life it is so easy to lose sight of the solution or the end result. Instead we stay stuck in the problem and as a consequence we lose our way. Try a different approach. When a problem arises tell yourself to ‘STOP’ and look at it from the outside. Think about what you want the result to be? Once you have done this then focus on the outcome. Next take the action required to reach it and you will be surprised at how many times the problem works itself out. Sometimes we just don’t need to know the how….
Write a Gratitude List
I urge all my clients to write a gratitude list at the end of the day. It’s a bit like writing a to do list for the next day, once you start it will become a habit. Take stock at the end of every day to write down all the things you are grateful for in your life along with all the good events of the day. The more you are grateful for something the more you will have of it.
Hold onto the strength of experience, it will be your greatest lesson
Life is full of experiences, good, bad and indifferent but each one of them has a lesson hidden within it. I read once that life is the only place where experience comes before the lesson and it is so often true. As you are going through some experiences it will, at times, be hard to see how anything good will come out of it, but over time the strength will come and the light will shine on the learning.
When you walk away always leave the WOW factor behind
If you carry a positive attitude and a smile I guarantee you will always leave the WOW factor behind. It is important in life and business to be kind to others, treat them with respect and honour their opinions, even if you do not always agree. Ensure you are remembered for the positives that you bring and remember a smile costs nothing but its rewards are priceless!
Make TODAY a good day
If you get up in the morning and fall over the cat, dog or even the doorstep, how often do you think, “oh no here we go, another bad day!” Well it doesn’t have to be that way. Stop your thinking pattern by taking a moment to re-focus your thoughts on the good things in your life, then smile and change the course of your day. You alone have the power so hold that thought. It isn’t what happens to us but it is how we deal with it that makes the difference.
Follow your intuition, listen to your heart
How many times has your gut told you something yet you have still gone ahead and done the opposite? How many times following this have you said to yourself ‘I should have listened to my gut feeling’? Your intuition is a powerful tool yet it’s one that so often gets ignored. As you go forward through life, listen to your intuition and remember that the answers to the questions in your mind are often found in your heart.
Be the change you want to see in your life and in others
Why do we expect others to change when we at times are not prepared to change ourselves? If we want to see a change in others or in our situation we have to look at who and what we are doing first. We cannot change others but we can change how we communicate or deal with them, hence behaviour breeds behaviour. If you don’t like your situation then you and you alone have the power within to change it. Remember if we believe we can we will!
